EMA is a weekly allowance of £30 payable to eligible 16-19 year olds who stay on in full-time non-advanced education after their statutory school leaving date.

Pupils must complete a new EMA application form for each school year. They can do this by visiting the Dundee City Council website.

Applications received by 30 September 2021 from pupils who were 16 years old by this date will be backdated to the start of the school year (16 August 2021).

Applications received from 1 October 2021 from pupils who were 16 years old by 30 September 2021 will not be backdated.

Pupils who are 16 between 1 October 2021 – 28 February 2022 can submit an application.  They will not be entitled to an EMA until 1 January 2022. The closing date for applications to be backdated is 28 February 2022.

The closing date for all applications is 31 March 2022
