Paris Trip 2014
Maths Disneyland Paris Trip
For the fifth year running, this trip was a great success. S Rogers, J Kingsmill and H Milne took 18 pupils from S2 to Disneyland Paris from 26th Jan to 29th Jan 2014.
We were all impressed by the cowboy themed Hotel Cheyenne.
Our trip into Paris included getting to the top of the Eiffel Tower and driving up the Champs Elysees between La Place de La Concorde and L’Arc de Triomphe.
‘The Buffalo Bill Wild West Show’ was amazing with cowboys on horseback, old fashioned Wagon trails having shoot outs with Red Indians and stampeding live Buffalos. We were served a three course meal on tin plates throughout the performance with cowboy hats on our heads. Of course Mickey & Minnie Mouse gave a special appearance.
Disneyland Park and Disneyland Studios were a fantastic experience and we had access to these from 9am onwards. Rock’n’Roller Coaster, Space Mountain and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror proved to be firm favourites. There was a great end to our trip with a parade followed by a spectacular lightshow and fireworks in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. We all then had a meal at Planet Hollywood.
Crucially the education sessions aim to link areas of the curriculum to their application at Disneyland Resort Paris.
We learned how these rides were designed in the Maths seminars. These seminars were held in the Gaumont Cinema Complex. Schools from all over the world gathered there for our sessions of Maths. Our students were a credit to Harris Academy when they delivered excellent presentations to the rest of the schools.
There were cinema clips and guest speakers including engineers, fashion designers and architects explaining how much Maths is involved in the world wide Disneyland Organisation.
