S1-S2 CORE

The department offers a broad range of activities within S1 and S2 core these activities range from rugby, football, fitness, gymnastics, swimming, volleyball athletics, basketball, badminton and hockey. Pupils will experience every activity t listed and have the opportunity to progress to extra-curricular clubs run during lunchtimes or after school.

S3 COURSE OPTION

As a course choice option for pupils moving into 3rd year, everyone will have the opportunity to opt to study either of the following courses,

 

Dance & Aesthetics

The following activities will be covered in this course

 Gymnastics

 Dance

 Trampolining

 Fitness (zumba/body combat/aerobics)

 Water based activity (synchronised swimming/water based fitness)

This is a practical course that will require participation every lesson. Pupils will be expected to cooperate and work together and will be expected to work as part of a team, analyse performance and take on the role of leader when working in small groups.

 This course involves 3 periods per week – along with 2 periods of core PE

OR

Physical Education

The following activities will be offered in this course, there will be an element of choice for each class

 Football

 Basketball

 Volleyball

 Water polo

 Netball

 Handball

 Short tennis

 Badminton

This is a practical course that will require participation every lesson where pupils will cover a variety of invasion games and individual activities. Pupils will be expected to cooperate and work together and will be expected to work as part of a team, evaluate their own and others performance and take on the role of leader when working in small groups.

 This course involves 3 periods per week – along with 2 periods of core PE

 

Both of these course will then lead on to the National 4 and Nation 5 courses.

 

Higher and Intermediate 2 Physical Education

This is a combination of theory taught in the classroom and taught through the activities of Basketball, football, swimming and badminton.
